Event in Washington, DC: Shared History, Common Vision

The Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) and Resist invite you to this celebration of

Five Decades of Supporting Grassroots Movements

In 1963 Marcus Raskin co-founded IPS withRichard Barnett and in 1967 he wrote Resist’s founding document, “A Call to Resist Illegitimate Authority.” From the antiwar movement during Vietnam to today, both organizations have been critical in supporting social movements: IPS with critical research and innovative ideas and Resist with funding visionary grassroots groups.

For the first time, IPS and Resist will be holding a special event to celebrate our shared history and look to a common future. IPS Fellow Phyllis Bennis, Advocacy Director for IPS’ Break the Chain Campaign, Tiffany Williams, Director of Communications for Resist Saif Rahman, and other speakers will discuss the crucial role of “the second superpower.” Join us after the elections to discuss the grassroots movements supported by both IPS and Resist who are the real engines of social change.
