Resources for Activists
The bombing and occupation of Iraq and the curtailment of basic civil liberties at home demonstrate the danger of unchecked power. In a democracy, power should belong to the people, and, in the words of the 1967 Call to Resist Illegitimate Authority, "Now is the time to resist."
RESIST has assembled a list of resources that may be of use to progressive activists. These include grassroots organizations and media resources. While this list is not exhaustive, it does provide a useful starting place. First on the list could be the 1967 Call to Resist Illegitimate Authority. RESIST formed in opposition to war in Southeast Asia, a war that violated national and international law and produced enormous damage to all involved. Now, as the Bush Administration implements an illegal and immoral policy of aggression abroad and at home, we find that much of the original Call continues to be applicable. Here are a few examples:
